The obvious inspiration for this drawing is obviously a spider. But since spider's are scary and giant spiders are monstrous I figure it counts.

It seems more like a hairy tick.
I guess, it could be since it doesn't seem to have much of an abdomen. But while drawing it I was thinking 'spider'. But I have to also admit that no reference were used. So it is whatever you make of it.
Well a tick would go along with your vampire theme. They need blood.
then it shall be tick monster.
