Zine update

So I've decided to start making zines again.  In the past month or so I've been drawing a lot of monsters and artwork that I could put in issue #3 of Bear with a Chainsaw.  The artwork is all done but I still have a little bit of writing to do before it can be published.  This will probably be the last issue ever of BWAC but I'm hoping to gain some attention for my next zine series.
More information about the new zine will be in BWAC #3 and posted here on this blog when I'm ready to talk about it.  In the meantime go pet a puppy while you wait.

As soon as I get a scanner and a printer work will once again resume on Bear With a Chainsaw and this blog will see updates again.  Yeah I know its been three years.  Yeah I know there is no longer any interest in my work.  Yeah I know I never had a fanbase in the first place.  Yeah I know I'm busier than ever with college and work.  So what?
Hey maybe I just like playing life in hard mode.

A flyer for my zine

So I made up a flyer and I plan on distributing them all over the place and generally putting them in as many annoying places as possible so that people will know that my zine exists.  If you are feeling helpful then email me and I'll mail you about twenty of these or so so that you can help out!  woo!

Bear With a Chainsaw #2 is out! (finally)

Yeah it's done. You wouldn't believe how much I procrastinated to make this issue either. Anyways, if you want a copy I will be mailing them for free(for a limited time anyways) to anyone who emails me and asks for a copy. Make sure that you include your shipping address in the email. If you like my art at all then you owe it yourself to just email me. This is what I've been working on instead of this blog and I love it when people ask for a copy. It makes me happy inside.

I'm gonna try to get back to more regular posting

So this is the conflict that I'm facing people. Right now I've been hard at work on my second issue of my zine(Bear with a Chainsaw), drawing lots of new and original monsters for it. However, I feel that some of the zine's "specialness" will be stolen away from it if I post the art from it up here on my blog. That's why I've slowed so much from posting content.

I've yet to really come up with a good solution to this. My zine is nearing completion though and should be done in like a week or two. if you want a copy then let me know and email me. please.

Anyways, this is for you Bear With a Chainsaw readers. Issue two is going to have some surprises in store for you. Like more art. I'm going to make sure that it's all original too and not stuff that you've seen before.

Here's my next picture. enjoy it. I was originally planning on selling this on etsy but after I actually finished the drawing(and made a lot of mistakes) I in no way feel confident enough that this is quality material that people would pay money for.

So yes, issue one of Bear With a Chainsaw is finally out! It's got tons of good stuff in it like an article by the talented Ethel Q Waters, a story by Nolan Renshaw, and drawings by me of course. I dumped off about twenty issues at Muse Music in Provo so hurry quick to get yours. I don't care about that, I'll mail an issue to ANYONE. really.

first issue

The wait is almost over people. The first issue of Bear With a Chainsaw will be out next week sometime. The cover looks something like the above picture so thats how you'll recognize it.

Also I accept submissions to my zine. Right now I'm looking for articles, funny or clever stories, and comics. If you have mad skillz in any of those departments then please don't hesitate to email me at cactuswren75@gmail.com. Don't feel bad though if I don't publish your entry.

more boring stuff

So anyways work on the zine is going slower than forseen. I'm still waiting an indiscriminate time for one of my writers to turn in their article and I refuse to print until I have atleast three written entries done by people that aren't me(I had to cut the comic and I really don't want to cut anything else).

The monsters on the left are just silly doodles that stand no chance of getting published so I have no problem of showing you them here.
Also to help ease the wait until I start reposting again I would like to point out my new link list entitled "Webcomics that I like". Go and read some. They are all good in their own weird way especially Forming and Dr Mcninja, those are the best ones.

UPDATE: I've settled on the name "Bear With A Chainsaw" for my zine. I stole it from Uncle Eric. Everyone tell me what you think in the comments.

Zine making

I'm going to make a little zine for all your informations. If you don't know what a zine is it's pretty much just a self-published book. Mine is only going to be about twenty or so pages and is going to include several articles, a comic, a poem, and a bunch of my monster art. Unfortunately, for this first issue I'm probably going to just use older pictures of monsters that you've all seen before. But I do plan on having a couple surprises. I'm not going to post any of the monsters until I get my zine printed and distributed so if I don't post in a while don't worry, I'm still drawing stuff.

Also as soon as I finish the zine I'll be able to mail a copy to anybody who wants one. And I'll do it for free for this one.

If you know my brother Nolan go bug him and tell him to hurry up on my comic.

Interstellar Wyrm

I think I went a little wild on the colors here. But even then the only thing I'm not completely satisfied with is the sky. It's no big deal though, there'll always be a next time.

Ok so this is pretty much my first experiment with markers.

I'm putting this one up for sale but if you don't wanna buy it it don't hurt my feelings.

I'll sell this off for four dollars. If I have to mail it to you then it'll be a little more.

Selling Monsters!!

Ok so I don't actually have anything solid yet but I'm planning on selling either original drawings of some new special monster that I'll make or art prints of monsters that I've already drawn. I can't speak too much on prices now but expect them to run somewhere in the 5$ to 20$ range.

And as for the monster on the left I felt like I wasn't drawing enough tentacles on my monsters so I gave a bunch to this one

Another maze monster

I drew another monster maze! woohoo yay! Ok so It's not very difficult to do(in fact you could probably solve it in like ten seconds) just find your way from the neck of the beast down to the little gentleman being grabbed by a foot.

Alright so I know this isn't a super crazy monster and is instead just your average zombie head getting blasted, I decided to post it anyways. I figure zombies count, we all love zombies right?

My uncle Eric made me draw this for my cousin Marcus for his upcoming game/college project/thingy. So there you go.
